WELSH PLAYERS ASSOCIATION

RANKING COMPETITION

GENERAL

Invitation of 32 players to be members of WPA, with reserve list to call on.(Max 40)

32 plus, committed players to pay £25 membership fee.

Closing date for acceptance of entry 31^st January 2008

Dates of 4 Rounds (8 sessions) plus Final day

Preferred entry for A.M. or P.M. (first come, entry basis)

Cheques (Not Banked) with entry

Some Venues will be left as TBA. but as much notice as possible will be forwarded

Full dress code for all rounds

Final Day Green to be as neutral as possible.

FORMAT

4 Rounds played on 4 days, preferably on forthcoming Home Welsh County Green,

if not for the coming season, experimental greens for future seasons

Venues to be spread around North Wales as much as possible

2 sessions of 16 players AM 10.00 start (9.30 practice) PM 2.30 start (2.00 practice)

Scratch 15 minutes after start time

Members can only play in one session each day

For each session 16 players drawn into 4 groups of 4

Each player plays 2 games i.e. 1v2, 3v4, winners play each other, losers play each other

All games 21 up , home green members minus 2 and give jack.

Ranking Points deducted for players who have committed and then fail to attend session

ALTERATIONS TO FORMAT

Organiser reserves the right to alter format slightly on the day, if necessary.

This may be due to number of entries per session , size of green, time restrictions etc.

This may include some groups of 3 players, 5 jacks on green if needed etc

All players will still receive 2 games, money for winning each game and points.

POINTS SYSTEM

4 in a group : 1st - 10 pts, 2nd - 6 pts, 3rd - 4 pts, 4th - 2 pts

3 in a group : 1st - 10 pts, 2nd - 6 pts, 3rd - 2 pts (Round Robin)

(when group winner has won both games, 2nd place has won 1 game, 3rd has lost both games)

3 in a group : 1st - 8 pts, 2nd - 6 pts, 3rd - 4 pts (when all group members have won 1 game each)

Player who fails to attend after committing to play - 2 points deducted

MONEY MATTERS

Money paid out to be decided after sponsorship review.

There will be money to be won in each game played and a bonus money prize for winning a group.

£10 to enter each session plus sponsorship sought per day

An Example based on 32 players (8 groups of 4) and say £80 sponsorship per day –

£400 available = £ 50 per group - £10 for every game won and a £10 bonus for winning Group.

FINAL DAY

Top 16 players in WPA Ranking Points Table

If players unavailable then 16 made up from 17^th then 18^th etc in table , all other players moving up.

If 2 or more players on same points then total games won, then best total chalks difference (agg.),

Then best total chalks scored over the 4 rounds, then lowest WPA member registration no. (1-32) decides order.

Seeded draw – 1 v16, 2 v 15 , 3 v 14, 4 v 13 and so on for Finals day

Numbered sponsored bibs to be worn

Good quality programme with Web/Press coverage, sponsors etc

Bookmaker in attendance hopefully

Needs a very good top prize (£500 at least, £1000 if possible.)

Last 16 should get at least £25 membership return
